There was a great display of sportsmanship shown today by a club member at the New Bedford Santa Dash in the US, organised by club legend Geoff Smith. Fellow Liverpool Harrier Dave Barr, who has recently moved to Boston to take up a role in research at Harvard University, was leading the race when a runner alongside him took a wrong turning leaving him out in front. In a great gesture Dave stopped and waited for him to return before carrying on the race. A gesture which seemed to have gone unnoticed by the other runner who then went on to push for the finish line to take the win; although the winner was quoted as saying ”He was an Englishman about it”.

An article about it made the local news. Well done Dave.
