Jonny Mellor took victory today in the Ribble Valley 10K which sees him replace Mo Farah at top of the UK Rankings for 10K on the road for 2013.

The race,  hosted by Blackburn Harriers and incorporating the North of England 10K Championships, featured an impressive elite entry list boasting almost 20 men who have gone under 30 minutes for 10K and 3 men sub 29 minutes.

The lead pack went through the 5K mark in around 15:12 but Jonny then pushed on and left them far behind running an astounding second 5K in 14 minutes to take the win in 29:12 – 2 seconds outside of his own course record set in 2011.

There were also notable performances from other club members:

Richie Burney – 31:56 (31st)
Alan Ashton – 34:34 (88th)
Maria Barrett – 35:50 (12th female)
