Jonny Mellor will line up against the world’s best tomorrow when he competes in the British Athletics Grand Prix in the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.

The event is widely regarded as the best indoor meet in the world and the start list for Jonny’s race certainly reflects that. Lining up in the 3000m will be:

Jonny has a personal best over the distance of 7:51.88 set last year when he broke Geoff Smith’s long standing club record. So far this season he has taken the Northern title with a time of 7:56.88 and he was second to Andy Vernon (who also competes in this event) in the British Championships with a time of 7:57.08.

The event will be shown live on BBC 1 – coverage starts at 1:15pm and Jonny’s race is scheduled for 2:31pm. Good luck Jonny.
