The Armagh International Road Race took place last night in Northern Ireland. The 12 event programme attracts a host of athletes combining National, European, World and Olympic experience between them and with the last place finisher in the Men’s 5K race in 2013 running a time of 16:45 it shows the calibre of athlete this event attracts.

Five club members made the trip over to compete, in what looked like tough weather conditions on the night. In the Women’s 3K Sophie Whiteside repeated her terrific performance of 2013 and finished one place higher in 8th place in 9:55.22. Maria Barrett was close behind in 11th with 10:00.37 and Sarah Griffiths in 18th with 10:32.18.

In the Men’s 5K there were 45 men who ran sub 15 minutes; Ricky Challinor came 55th in 15:16.87 and James McNally ran a PB to finish in 65th with 15:30.08.
