Lucy Miller finished an excellent 4th place in the SIAB International Cross Country yesterday. The race, hosted by the Schools International Athletic Board is an elite event where in order to qualify athletes need to have finished in the top 8 in the English Schools Cross Country (or equivalent national event). Lucy gained her spot in the England team following her 7th place finish in the ESAA XC last Saturday in Donnington Park.

The SIAB competitions are one of very few events where junior athletes, especially at under-15 level, can gain international status without achieving senior standards. The SIAB events are extremely elite and the competitions are designed as incentives and a reward to junior athletes for their hard work and commitment to training.

Yesterday’s event was held at Canon Slade School in Bolton and Lucy lined up for the 8-strong English team in the Junior Girls’ race over a distance of 3500m. Competing against a number of older girls, Lucy finished in a fantastic 4th place which helped the English team come away with a clear 1st place.

Well done Lucy!
