The England Athletics U20 and U23 National Championships took place this weekend at Bedford International Stadium.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson showed the huge range of talent she’s got for individual events by becoming National Champion in the U23 100m and 2nd place in the U23 100m Hurdles. On the Saturday Kat set a personal best in the 100m heats with 11.36 but bettered it in the final with 11.30 to take the title. On Sunday she competed in the 100m hurdles and repeated the double PB performances with 13.44 in the heats followed by 13.41 in the final but sadly narrowly missed out on a second title as she took 2nd place.

Jamie Webb continued his blistering season by taking the National Title in the U23 800m. Jamie cruised through the heats on the first day and then set a personal best in the final to take the title. Going through the first lap in 52 seconds, Jamie was clear winner by over 2 seconds in a time of 1:48.35. With 2 more seasons left as an U23 athlete the future is looking very promising for Jamie.

Well done to Osian Jones who took the National Title in the U23 Hammer. Off the back of his selection to compete in the Commonwealth Games, Osian threw a personal best of 65.91m to take first place.

In other events Kate Anson was joint 3rd in the U20 High Jump with a jump of 1.65m and Craig Jones was 3rd in the U23 Long Jump with 7.30m. Dan Jarvis narrowly missed out on a podium spot by placing 4th in the U20 3000m s/c with a PB time of 9:27.84 and Alex Boyce was 5th in the U23 400m in a time of 48.04.
