Northern Road Relays

The Northern Athletics Road Relay Championships took place on Saturday at Birchwood Park in Warrington.

After a few initial errors in the results they are now available as provisional below (click the event headings for full results):

U13 Girls
A team 2nd place. B team 30th place. Katie Miller 6th fastest leg of the day.

U13 Boys
A team 23rd place. Sam Flaherty 45th fastest leg of the day.

U15 Girls
A team 2nd place. B team 6th place. C team 23rd place. Lucy Miller 6th fastest leg of the day.

U15 Boys
A team 31st place. B Team incomplete. Max Brame 45th fastest leg of the day.

U17 Women
A team 3rd place. B team 22nd place. Sophia Brennan 5th fastest leg of the day.

U17 Boys
A team 5th place. B team incomplete. Thomas Rogerson 13th fastest leg of the day.

Senior Women
A Team 15th place. B Team incomplete. Rachael Burns 22nd fastest leg of the day.

Senior Men
A team 5th place. B team 15th place. C team 46th place. Dan Cliffe 9th fastest leg of the day.

English Half Marathon

Congratulations to Dan Cliffe and Paul Sankey who both got podium positions on Sunday at the English Half Marathon in Warrington.

After his terrific run at the relays the day before, Dan completed a successful weekend by going on to run a personal best in the Half to win with a time of 68:10, with Paul in 3rd in 74:57. Tony Green also ran a PB with 1:42:23.

English Schools Combined Events Championships

Congratulations to Anna Rowe who took first place in the ESAA Combined Events Championships Heptathlon this weekend in Boston, Lincolnshire. Anna produced 4 personal best performances to take the gold in the intermediate girls competition with a total points score of 5140.

80mH – 12.11 (+1.1)
High Jump – 1.61
Shot Put (3Kg) – 11.59 (PB)
200m – 25.33 (-0.2) (PB)
Long Jump – 5.66 (+2.6) (PB)
Javelin (500g) – 32.16 (PB)
800m – 2:17.84

Not only does that points score rank her number 1 in the country for 2014 (U17) it also places her 3rd on the All Time U17 rankings despite being a year under age (just behind KJT and Morgan Lake). The World Youths (under 18) run a different hurdle race to us, but she ranks 16th in the world, still with another year to go. But with those born in her year (1998) she ranks 7th in the world!

Wirral Multi Terrain Race 3

Race 3 of the Wirral Multi Terrain series took place on Tuesday at Wirral Country Park, Thurstaston. Well done to Laura Quine who again won the female race for the second week running in a time of 31:57, with Laura Murphy having a great run to finish in 3rd in 32:37. In the men’s race Jamie Mellor was the first Harrier home in a time of 29:05.

The ladies A team finished in 1st place overall and an incomplete B team still managing 14th place. The men finished in 16th place. Full results are available HERE.
