Great South Run

MellorGSR

Well done to Jonny Mellor who placed 15th in the Great South Run on Sunday in a time of 49:03. The event is billed as the biggest 10 mile race in Europe and its IAAF Gold Label status means it attracts a high quality field despite the constantly windy conditions on the front at Portsmouth always producing slower times than expected.

L&D Cross Country, Race 1

RichardBurney
The first race of this season’s Liverpool and District Cross Country League took place on Saturday at Beacon Park.

Richie Burney showed his dominance by taking the win which hopefully means his injury is behind him now. It was also good to see the return of Lee Siemaszko who took 3rd place after a number of years out injured. Alan Ashton placed 5th, and a strong run by Laura Quine saw her take first place in the ladies standings and 5th counter for the team.

Sadly a lack of strength in depth meant we only placed 3rd team on the day. Full results can be found HERE.

Team Counters (6 to Count)
1st – Richard Burney – 30:56
3rd – Lee Siemaszko – 32:21
5th – Alan Ashton – 32:48
24th – Paul Harrison – 36:44
29th – Laura Quine – 37:23
33rd – Steve Tod – 37:48

North West Sunday XC League, Race 1

The first race in the popular North West Sunday Cross Country League took place at Clarkes Gardens. Despite a number of runners already having run that weekend in the L&D race the day before, we still had enough quality on the day to take the overall win, with 10 club members competing.
