Northern Athletics XC Championships 2015

Many club members trekked down the M62 to West Yorkshire on the day or stayed in the area the night before. It was a dry day, with a cold northerly wind but as warned the previous evening it would be muddy – and it was.

Summary Results

Under 13 Girls – Finished 3rd with Ella McNiven finishing runner up in the race supported in the team by Emma Gordon (12th), Niamh Donnelly (31st) and Beth Doubtfire (78th). Also finishing were Sophia Rowley (115) and Elizabeth Pedersen (135th).

The U15 Girls – finished in 5th place with Emma Gordon highest placed in 7th place.

The under 17 Ladies only had 3 athletes on the day and Hannah Delaney was highest placed in 16th place.

In the Under 20 Ladies event – our sole representative was Rebecca Donohue who finished in 37th place.

Our Senior women were our highest placed female team on the day finishing as runners up. Sophie Whiteside was our first counter followed by Elizabeth Egan (31) , Sarah Howard(35th) and Maria Barrett (44th). Hannah Traynor finished in 120th place. Well done ladies

In the U13 Boys race – the twins Sam and Ethan Flaherty were our only representatives who finished 91st and 186th respectively.

In the Under 15 Boys race – who finished 9th overall, Joe Ford was our highest counter ion 10th place supported by Max Brame in 38th place, Daniel Preston in 72nd place and Andrew Grant in 129th place.

In the Under 17 Men’s race for varying reasons we had no team but Tom Rogerson was our sole representative who finished in 26th place.

In the U20 Men’s race – the team excelled in winning the Northern title but also finishing 1st with placing of 1st – Dan Jarvis ,4th – Cameron Field, 5th – Liam Burtham, and 6th – Mathtew Matthew Shirling with Richard Evans in 26th place.

The Senior Men’s team finished in 9th place with Richard Burney our highest placed athlete in 34th place.

Well done to all whop made the effort and turned up on the day. We were aware that some others were either injured or not well.

European Indoor Junior CE Competition

Congratulations to Anna Rowe who represented Great Britain by competing in the European Indoor Junior CE Competition in Nogent-sur-Oise in France at the weekend.

In a very close competition, Anna came 5th with 3674 points, just 4 points off 3rd place. Well done Anna.

Standard Chartered Dubai 10K

Well done to John McCole who placed 23rd in the Standard Chartered Dubai 10K at the weekend.

John was first Brit home in a time of 34:37.
