In an article in Athletics Weekly they listed the World Indoor Merit Rankings compiled by Peter Matthews and Mel Watman for the Athletics International Newsletter.

“Merit Rankings” are an attempt to value, on an annual basis, the ‘athletic worth’ of athletes based on factors other than, simply, their single top performance. The considerations are such as the win/loss record against other top performers, championship record and the quality of the competitors and competition in which the top marks are achieved.

Ranked first, alongside Mo Farah (3000m) and Jenny Meadows (800m) is Katarina for her performance in the Pentathlon. She is also ranked 2nd in the Long Jump (to Ivana Spanovic) and 6th in the High Jump.

Well done Kat, you continue to make us proud.
