British Athletics League

Congratulations to the BAL team who secured promotion to the Premiership next year with a 2nd place match result at Wavertree on Saturday. The team was 2nd on the day behind Windsor, but with 2 wins and 2 second places over the 4 matches they won the league overall with 30 points to Windsor’s 28 points.

Well done to everyone who competed over the season and let’s look forward to a good year next year in the Premier Division.

UK Women’s League

Not to be outdone by the men, the lady’s team also secured promotion for next year by winning their final match at Wigan on Sunday in Division 3 of the UK Women’s League. That places them top of the league with 21 points, the same as both Herts Phoenix and Herne Hill Harriers, but they took the top spot with the highest overall match points.

Northern Athletics League

The Harriers finished in 5th place at the 4th meeting of the Northern League Division 2W in Ormskirk on Saturday, only 1 point behind St Helens in 4th.

End of season league standings sees us finish in 3rd position with the same league points as the Isle of Man with 17 but they took the 2nd spot with more match points overall.

International Throwing Meeting

Well done to Mike Bomba who represented England at the International Throwing Meeting in Portugal over the weekend.

Mike threw 67.97 on the Saturday, and improved on that with a season’s best of 68.98 on the Sunday which was the 3rd best throw of the competition overall.

Northern Vets 10K Championships

Well done to Peter Simpson who was 3rd V65 in the Northern Vets 10K Championships which were held in Blackpool on Sunday.
