The 2016 Merseyside County Cross Country Championships were held on Saturday at a very muddy Arrowe park in Wirral.

Liverpool Harriers traditionally do very well in this event and this year did not disappoint with 7 individual golds and a host of team medals across all the races. Hattie Baine started the day with a win in the U11 Girls’ Race and Ella McNiven got us the second gold medal of the day in the U15 Girls’ event. Max Brame had a strong run to take 1st in the U15 Boys and then Beth Strange took the win in the combined U17/U20 Women’s event. Richard Evans was 1st in the U20 Men’s race and in the Senior Women’s event Rachael Burns found some terrific form to run away from the rest of the field to take a great win. There was a thrilling finish to the day in the Senior Men’s race with Degene Gezimu just beating Richie Burney to the line by a single second.

Thanks to all who turned out to run, officiate and support and also to Wirral AC for hosting this year’s event.
