Wrexham Games

Well done to Lucy Strettle winning the silver medal in the U13 Shot Put at Sunday’s Wrexham Games. Results are not available yet, but Lucy threw a new PB of 6.34m.


Sale Sizzler 5K

It was good to see Jonny Mellor back in action again with 2nd place in the Sale Sizzler 5K on Thursday night. Despite the weather making it slippy under foot Jonny ran a strong race at the front and placed 2nd in 14:22.

Also dipping under the 15 minute mark was Degene Gezimu with 14:53 for 5th place. Further down the field was Ryan Whiston (16:17), Rachael Burns (16:32 – 2nd female), Dale Higham (17:01), Kyle Dentith (17:11), Jake Goodwin (18:56) and Megan Ball (19:18).

Podium 5K

Well done to Aaron Jarvis who ran another PB of the season with 15:53 at the Podium 5K in Barrowford on Friday evening.

Helena Tipping Wrexham 10K

Well done to Paul Sankey and Peter Simpson who both ran the Wrexham 10K on Sunday.

Paul was 5th overall and surprisingly only 3rd V45 in a strong category with a time of 34:09. Peter was 1st V65 with 45:58.

England Athletics AAA & UK CAU Senior Championships and England Athletics Senior Disability Athletics Championships

The AAAs and CAU Senior Champs were held at Bedford over the weekend with a number of our athletes competing. Results are HERE.

Erin McBride won her heat in the 100m Ambulant with 13.06 but unfortunately was disqualified in the final for a false start. However she won the 200m Ambulant final with 26.89. James Williams narrowly missed out on a place in the 100m final, coming 3rd in the semi with 10.45. He placed 5th in the final of the 200m with 21.33.

Well done to Max Wharton who won the Senior Men’s 800m with a time of 1:51.88, also winning the preceding heat where Nzimah Akpan was 2nd. Alex Boyce ran a season’s best of 47.74 in the semi final of the 400m to qualify as fastest runner up for the final, but didn’t appear to race the final with only 7 athletes starting.

Joshua Hewett, still an U17 athlete, cleared 2.00m to place 7th in the High Jump and Scott Lincoln won the Shot Put with 19.35.
