It is not often that I am stirred to respond however I was most annoyed to read
your comments and the "hall of shame" who have
resigned from the club.
This has been my first season with the Harriers and a most disappointing
experience - Liverpool are no less mercenary and
selfish in there team selections and exclusions and offer far less support than
any club I have been involved with.
The athletes that have left are typically high level performers - so it raises
the question why the club cannot retain good quality
athletes? If other clubs can offer financial or other sporting inducements then
so be it however I do agree with you in respect of
the poaching element. Naming and shaming athletes who have contributed a lot to
the Harriers and insinuating that they have left
for mercenary gain is fundamentally wrong and I really believe it has no place
on what is otherwise an excellent website.

Thanks for the reply - my personal experience was directed at the Senior
element and my experience has in all honesty been poor and
less than I would have expected from a club with a sound reputation but that was
merely a personal gripe and hopefully I have now
resolved this with the team.
The problem of athletes leaving is partly a reflection of the sorry (money
induced) state of the sport where the "true" spirit has been
lost and I believe the club need to decide on whether they want to strive
towards National League Div 1 and compete with clubs who are
operating at best on the margin of the rules or pursuing a wider policy of
development and support for all members regardless of
ability.
I would be grateful if you could perhaps register my earlier post on the
website.

Damon

I appreciate the acknowledgement - sorry to be a pain but I feel it does not
capture the sentiment of my initial reply and I think it is
proper that a defense of these athletes is posted in full.
The website is excellent and a true credit to the club and was the main reason
why I chose to join Liverpool - excellent information
regularly updated and fully informative.
My only query regarding the club is why the lack of a club champs or more open
meetings?
Luck with the throws! I think a miracle is needed at the moment!!!!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to respond
Best wishes
Damon
