Dear Club Member
Flora
London Marathon 2002 – Sunday 14th April 2002
Have you applied for a London Marathon place? Are you worried you may not be successful? Possibly need a Golden Bond place?
Help us increase our number of runners last year from 32 and we may be able to help you.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, is a registered charity, training dogs to alert deaf people to sounds. The dogs touch with a paw and when asked, lead to the source of the sound, such as the doorbell, baby crying, cooker timer etc. The only sound the dog does not lead to is the smoke alarm and when it hears this sound, the dog will touch and then lie down, to indicate danger.
It costs over £5,000 to train just one dog, which is given to a deaf person free of charge, the difference a dog can make to the isolation and security of a deaf person is incredible and as such there is a waiting list for a dog of two years. 1 in 7 of the British population has some sort of hearing loss and deafness is often known as the ‘invisible disability’.
You can help us raise much needed funds to train more of these amazing dogs by getting sponsored for your run, or applying for one of our Golden Bond places.
Fill
in the postcard now and we will send you an application form, when you know the
result of the draw, send in the completed form and we will
send you a ‘Runners
Pack’. If you are unlucky with no
place, you can apply for one of our precious Golden Bonds.
All our runners receive a specially designed Ronhill Running Vest, post race hospitality, including massage/physio.and a travel/accommodation package.
What have you got to lose? Complete the card now and send it off, or ring me on 01744 886650 for further details. It may be the best step you make this year!
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Yours sincerely
