ITEMS OF INTEREST 2004
Sad news on Xmas Eve.
It saddens me to report the sudden death of Paul O'Brien, (71yrs) a former sports writer with Liverpool Echo and a good supporter of Liverpool Harriers. Paul retired in January 1998 after 49yrs of service. He will be best remembered for his reporting of schoolboy football and athletics. I like many others held him in high esteem. He was also a supporter of Merseyside Athletics and would attend meetings with wise words. I know that over the past number of years Paul had been unwell but he always put on a brave face. Both of us had a similar illness around the same time and we always compared notes. It will be a great loss not to hear his voice and to have his assistance at future athletic meetings. Our condolences go to his family.
