North of England X.C. Championships.

Derby - Saturday 26th January 2001

On a wet and miserable day, a coach of lads, girls and parents left Wavertree at 8am for one of the main cross country races of the year. Hopes were high and the lads and girls didn't let us down. It was one of the hardest courses that I have seen in my time, and in some places I would say dangerous. I'm glad I was not the meeting referee.

The older members of the club were running later in the day and our ladies won the team event (39pts), from the runners up - Bingley (63pts) and Sale who were third ( 79 pts). Sarah Singleton was runner up and was supported by  Jenny Clague (6th), Emma Ford (15th), Laura Carney (16th), Gill Varley ( 31st), L McDermott (78th), J Rigby (111th), and L Gill (125th).

Well Done Ladies - Come the Nationals!
