European Indoor Championships

European Indoor Championships – Glasgow 1/2/3 March

Liverpool Harriers had three athletes and two officials selected for the European Indoor Championships. Katarina Johnson-Thompson(Pentathlon), Tim Duckworth (Heptathlon), Jamie Webb (800m) plus Arwel Williams and Dean Williams officiating.

Congratulations to Katarina Johnson-Thompson who won gold in the Pentathlon to add to her world title. Kat’s score of 4983 was the fourth highest in history and was made up of he following scores:

60mH – 8.27, SP -13.15, HJ – 1.96m, LJ – 6.53m, 800m – 2:09.13

Congratulations to Jamie Webb, who picked up the silver in the 800m in an indoor PB of 1:47.13. Jamie won his heat, came second in the semi final and then ran a terrific tactical race in the final to medal in just his second major international championship.

Congratulations to Tim Duckworth who picked up a silver medal in the heptathlon. Tim scored 6156pts, with individual scores of 6.85 – 60m, 7.79m -LJ,12.97 – SP, 2.13m HJ, 8.16 – 60mH, 5.00m – PV, 2:49.44 -1000m. Tim was in the medal positions all the way through with a massive PB in the 1000m to seal the medal
