Just unearthed from results of events over the Christmas period is the "Jubilee Plunge", held on Moel Famau on Boxing Day. The race is only 2mls.... but drops 1500ft (by my calculation that's around 1-in-7 average gradient)! Adam Peers, one of our best distance runners, with a running action we'd all like to have, obliterated the course record of 11:50 with a victory in 10:24. Glen Groves was just inside the old record in second place and first O40 (11:41), Karen Dalby finished as second Lady, and Pat Henley survived the descent too! They must all be very fit.. or mad?
In another fell race recently, the Ashurst Beacon (6mls, 1000ft of climb/descent), our women won the team race, thanks to Michelle Murphy (4th female and first O45), Sarah Jackson, and Karen Dalby. Peter Simpson was second in the O60 class. |
