in the Welsh Indoors Champs, Rebecca Nuttall was a close 4th in the 800m, running 2:17.75 which is her fastest since 2008.

 

In the Men's 800m heats,  international runner Joe Thomas clearly wanted to start 2012 with a bang, winning his heat in 1:47.82.  Exactly twelve seconds behind Joe was our own Sion Wynne-Williams (who seems to race every week recently), in 1:59.82, nearly three seconds inside his PB. 

This meant Sion's coach (well known steeplechaser, Tony Clarke, seen here with Sion at the Merseyside XC) won his bet that Sion could break two minutes.  It's all about confidence and work!
