Liverpool Harriers Christmas Handicap Race.

Sunday 23rd December 2001

Wavertree Mystery

On a chilly but dry Sunday afternoon, an above average number of members gathered for the annual handicap races. Some of the seniors were suffering from their night out last night.

                                                               Fastest Lap       Craig Gunderson (8.59mins)

British Athletics League - Cup Semi-Final

Sunday 10th June 2001 - Robin Park Arena, Wigan

On a windy but fine day, the Men's team traveled to Wigan, unfortunately there were gaps in the team and with only a number of athlete's to be placed in the first 3. The team finished in 6th place overall. I would suggest that the selection committee need to re- look at selection policies.

AAA England - Men's 12 Stage Road Relays

Sutton Park, Birmingham

Saturday 28th April 2001

A team of twelve athletes went to the relays and were disqualified. My understanding is that Phil Mc Glory, a junior was the disqualified runner, because of his date of birth? - (was not 17yrs old on 31.08.00), but a number of other teams were also disqualified for the same issue - The referee was Mr. Tony Riley and not Mr. John Bradshaw ( who was an official).  The event was won by Tipton in a time on 4hrs 10mins 27 secs. From my enquiries I'm getting different versions of who is to blame. Therefore I think that the whole episode is best left alone and too petty to fall out over..
