Sportshall -2019/2020

2019/20 Sportshall League.

The first fixture of the new Sportshall season will soon be upon us. This is a great opportunity for newer or less experienced track & field athletes to experience competing in a fun (and dry) environment. It’s also good for more experienced athletes to stay active over the winter with many of the events simulating conditioning training such as plyometrics. Events include Sprints, Middle Distance and specially adapted field events such as Standing Long Jump, Standing High Jump, Soft Shot Put and Speed Bounce. Many athletes will do these events at school too. UNDER 15s For the 19/20 season, there will be a virtual competition, with scores given for times and distances achieved. A separate score card will be issued for reference to league contacts. This will account for the different sizes of the host accommodation for distance achieved. Scores for the best track and best two field events in defined categories will be counted for each athlete at each competition, with individual and team performances being awarded medals. Athletes can do 6 events and a relay at each fixture. The club has been really successful in recent years and often has multiple athletes selected for Merseyside in the Regional County Finals in Manchester in the Spring. Athletes must be between 9yrs old and 15 yrs old on 1st September 2019. The club covers the cost of competition. Events start at 12.30pm so we meet at the venue at 11.30pm. They always finish by 4.30pm.
