YDL Lower National Finals – Wavertree – Sat 6th September
Liverpool Harriers had the honour of hosting the YDL finals for the first time.
On the Saturday, our YDL lower team had qualified after winning all four matches and went into the match looking to improve on last year’s performance when we just pipped York for 4th.
We started the meeting leading after the first two track events with India Bates winning the U13G 70mH and Grace Lackey finishing second in the B race.
The strength in depth of the big three clubs, Blackheath, Woodford Green and Rugby showed as they pulled away and the final results went down to the relays. Unfortunately, Blackheath were disqualified in one of the Relays, which ultimately cost them the title.
Final Results:
Rugby 567pts
Blackheath 565.5pts
Woodford G 565pts
Liverpool Harriers 474.5pts
York 420pts
Cheltenham 417.5pts
Edinburgh 368.5pts.
4th place in the country is a considerable achievement and the gap to York showed an improvement from last season. Our U13G were the strongest team in that age in the match.
