Anniversary Games, YDL Lower & Round Up

Anniversary Games – Olympic Park – 20th/21st July

Jamie Webb broke the long standing 800m club record held by Curtis Robb with a new time of 1:44:52. That was a long standing record going back to 1993. He is now looking forward to the next Diamond League at Birmingham and the British Champs where selection for Doha will take place.  This puts Jamie at the top of the GB rankings and ranks him 10th on the UK all time list.

KJT also competed last weekend with a sb in the 200m with 23.19 and was 7th in the LJ with 6.47m

Ystadspelan, Sweden

At the Ystadspelan meet, Sweden, John Kelly broke the Club and Northern Ireland record by exceeding for the first time the 18 metre barrier, which is the qualifying standard for the World Championships, with a superb throw of 18.01. John finished 2nd in the competition to Viktor Gardenkran who threw 18.42.

Welsh International, Cardiff 24th July

Yet another club record went at the Welsh International with Osian Jones extending his PB to 71.77m which is also a Welsh record. Emma Alderson came second in the 400m in 56.65

YDL lower Sheffield – Sat 20th July

The YDL lower team travelled to Sheffield with a reasonably strong team in the relegation play off match. The oddities of the league meant that the top NW and NE team stayed in the top division, with the remainder of the teams relegated. West Cheshire were favourites to stay up having finished 4th in the previous 3 meetings and unsurprisingly won the match. The highlight of the match was the performance of the Boys 4x100m relays squad of Ed Galloway, Luka Sidebotham, Matthew Liu and Cameron Scott-Allen who smashed a long standing club record with 46.22
