British Championships/YDL upper & round up

British Championships – Sportcity June 25th – 27th

Congratulations to Tim Duckworth who became British Champion in the Decathlon. Weather conditions were against him on the opening day with strong headwinds and he then cramped up during the 400m.

Tim’s score of 7447pts was enough for victory, but a long way of his PB.

Elsewhere, our other Olympic hopefuls failed to qualify for the Olympics. Jamie Webb finished 5th in the 800m, having got pushed early on and James Williams was disqualified in the 400m for a false start.

Henry Nwoke, Ethan Flaherty, Osian Jones, David Devine and Emily Dibble all competed.

YDL Upper – Ellesmere Port – 27th June

Well done to our YDL upper team who finished 3rd on the day. It was a good effort as we were short of quite a few athletes, but we did manage to put out a full compliment of steeplechasers, despite none of them having raced that discipline before.

English School Combined events – Telford 27th June

Congratulations to Sadie Madigan and Mayley Koroma who competed in the junior girls pentathlon. Sadie finished second with 2823pts. Mayley was 14th with 2183. Both have another year in the age group.

Elsewhere, KJT was selected for the Olympics subject to fitness and then went and jumped 1.84 in the high jump in a low key meeting in France.
