Commonwealth Games – Gold Coast, Australia

Liverpool Harriers had four athletes competing in the Commonwealth games:

Osian Jones – Wales.

Congratulations to Osian Jones who finished 7th in the men’s Hammer with a throw of 70.14m. Halfway through the third round Osian was in the medals.

Jerai Torres – Gibraltar

Jerai competed in the 200m and 400m for Gibraltar. He finished 7th in the 400m heats in 49.40 and 5th in the 200m heats in 22.23

Anyika Onuora – England(ladies captain)

Anyika competed in the 400m and 4x 400m for England. The 400m was loaded and none of the home nations made the final.

Anyika finished 5th in the heats in 53.13 and qualified as a fastest loser

In the semi final Anyika improved to 4th in 52.73, but was not enough to make the final

Anyika ran the lead off leg for the 4×400, but England just missed out on Bronze and England got overtaken in the last 50m.

Katarina Johnson Thompson – England

Congratulations to Katarina on winning gold in the Heptathlon and picking up her first senior global Heptathlon title.

Despite suffering from an ankle problem and the competition being very close to the world indoors, Kat won comfortably with a score of 6255

Kat’s performances were:
