Congratulations to Katarina Johnson-Thompson on winning an Olympic Silver medal in the Heptathlon in her fourth Olympics.
Kat started day 1with a solid 13.40 in the hurdles followed by 1.92m in the high jump. That was her biggest jump for 5 years. Kat then went and threw a massive PB in the shot of 14.44m, extending her own club record. There was a quick turnaround to the 200m in 23.44
That put her in the lead after day 1, with Nafi Thiam the double Olympic champion a close second
There was very little between Kat and Nafi in the long jump with Kat jumping 6.40m. A solid javelin of 45.49m kept Kat in contention as Nafi took the lead with a huge javelin throw.
In the 800m , Kat had to beat Nafi by 8.5s, but their PBs were 6.5 secs apart, so it was a big ask.
Kat did run a PB of 2:04.90, but Nafi ran well and pipped Kat by 36pts.
Kat ended up with 6844pts and her first Olympic medal.
