It has been a very busy time in May, with lots of athletes starting off their seasons.
Mid Cheshire 5K – Friday 30th April
Jonny Mellor returned from injury to finish 2nd in 14:12:, Dave Devine showed he was in superb form finishing 3rd in a new PB and excellent performances from Alistair Rutherford and Sarah Howard.

World Athletics Relays – Poland
James Williams was selected to compete for GB in the 4x400m, however in his heat, he had the misfortune to clip heals whilst about to hand over the baton and fell. The team were unable to make up the deficit and failed to qualify.
Junior Trafford Open – Sat 1st May
Again there were a huge amount of athletes competing and our middle distance athletes were extremely impressive. In a high quality 1200m, Molly Carvell ran 3:47, which seems to be the quickest time ever run by a Liverpool Harrier U13G. Charlie Rigby moved to the top of the boys rankings and Valerie Teare also ran a very quick time in the same race. Our depth of U13G 800m was highlighted with Erin Fay, Bailey Hughes, Isabella Doran, Lexie Ellis all going sub 2:30, to make 6 athletes in total.
Freya Mutch ran a very quick 75m/150m double and a good high jump, whilst Sadie Madigan improved her high jump to 1.46.

BMC Grand Prix – Trafford – Sat 8th May
On a wet and cool evening, UKA put on 400m and 400mH elite races. Unfortunately, the 3 athletes that had travelled to Poland hadn’t received back their final test result and were not allowed to compete.
James Webster an Ethan Flaherty ran 53.67 and 55.47 Respectively for 400mH. Mac Woodward smashed his PB over 800m running 1:57.14, Emma Alderson ran her fastest 800m for 3 years running 2:11.96

Trafford Senior Open – Sun 9th May
On a cool and windy day, the sprinters all ran into strong headwinds. James Williams ran as a guest in the 400m, however it was almost a time trial in difficult conditions, but James ran 47.69. Elsewhere Ben Taylor impressed over 800m, Liam McCay improved his PB over 3k and there was soon good sprinting from Demi Ologbon and our U17’s.

Run through Aintree Racecourse half marathon
Fiona Corrick and Vicky Unsworth both competed finishing in 86:25 and 92:39 respectively
Elsewhere -Steph Driscoll opened her 400m hurdles with 63.88. Ionna Malli, our new javelin thrower, threw 48.84m, Zoe Price launched the hammer 53.34 and Callum Crawford-Walker ran the 800m in 1:50.71
