This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Hollymount International Road Races which are held in mid-Nov (15th) in the West of Ireland. For the last 40 years runners from Liverpool (Harriers) and beyond have made the pilgrimage to Hollymount, birthplace of the late Tom Reilly, a University professor at Liverpool John Moores University and member of Liverpool Harriers. Tom and his brother Sean co-founded the event which has become one of the oldest running events in Ireland.
To mark this special anniversary there will be a celebratory dinner with entertainment and special guest John Treacy (Former World XC Champion and Olympic Marathon Silver medallist) for all visitors. The races not only provide PB potential but also carry an impressive prize fund of over 5000 euros.
As usual there is a weekend trip from Liverpool organised by Neil Chester which includes food, all coach and ferry travel and two nights accommodation (including hotel accommodation in central Dublin on the Friday night) and race entry all for £150 pp.
