We have been notified of the passing of Joyce Dagnall.
The Dagnall’s interest in Liverpool Harriers started with their son, Chris being spotted at school and Joyce and Ray were involved at the club for over 25 years. Ray was a coach, whilst they both were marshalls and recorders at XC and road events.
Joyce worked at Radio Merseyside as a typist, used her skills to support the club secretary, Tom O’Mahoney, doing all the typing, including, the club newsletter and helping Charlie Rice for the Northern Counties.
In the mid 80’s, the club took part in the National 25 x 1 mile track relay, with the club using St.Edwards College at Sandfield Park, West Derby. Not surprisingly, the day started in torrential rain, but Joyce and the other volunteers made the day a success. Joyce used the day to help raise £200 for club funds, having been soaked for virtually the whole day.
Joyce continued to do the typing until arthritis took hold, but Ray was a regular supporter of the Xmas Handicap.
The funeral takes place at Springwood on 24/02 at 10.30am going on to Childwall Abbey Pub.
RIP Joyce
